WIN has recently made some dramatic shifts in our array of programs. While we have long provided one-time emergency assistance to families, after considerable soul-searching, we acknowledge that while this provides a helpful and necessary short-term benefit, it does not help empower families to achieve independence over the long-haul.
WIN realized that, in order to achieve our mission of helping families “improve their life by providing programs and services that educate, enrich and empower”, we needed to shift our focus on to programs that facilitate this mission over the long-term. To that end, we are now providing education and day care scholarships geared specifically toward furthering the education of single parent families. This exciting new program will help families achieve independence through greater employment prospects and allow them to better provide for their families.
The Scott Othoson Memorial Scholarship program, for up to $5000 per applicant, exists for single parent moms (or dads) currently working and attending school to further their education. Unused funds may be used for Child Care subsidy if necessary. Click here to learn more
